The Bergamot is a mix of indie pop, folk, soul, and acoustic alternative.Their sound resembles, Norah Jones, Colbie Caillat, John Mayor, Sara Bareilles, Sade, Ingrid Michaelson, and has hues of The Beatles woven in their sound. The Bergamot, duo Jillian Speece and Nathan Hoff, have been producing passionate, genuine, and heartfelt music for the last seven years.They are an American songwriting force. Their music is sweet to the ear, brilliantly organic,and bursting from the seams with color and vibrancy. The Bergamot is made up of real musicians, real music,period. Critics have heralded this group as, "Extraordinary" and "Potential Grammy nominees. Speece and Hoffs music originated out of the cornfields of Northern Indiana. Their sound incorporates hues of folk, pop, and soul. The voice of Jillian Speece is gloriously freeing and smoother than silk, while Nathan Hoff's music flows effortlessly and passionately from his fingertips. Additionally, The Bergamot has done collaborations with talented musicians such as drummer Grant Inman and bassist Andrew Teeple. They enjoy participating in live collaborations in order to welcome fresh musical possibilities in to their sets.

The Bergamot has grown a great deal from their humble beginnings of self-production in 2003. To date the group has released two Albums. In 2007 they released A Simple Christmas and this March 2010 they released an EP Smile. The Bergamot is currently working on their third album, The Haven, a tribute album to the seven year stretch they have been collaborating and writing together. The Haven will be compiled of Speece and Hoffs most favorite throw back songs that have originated over the years. It is planned on being released late this summer. Speece and Hoff have also begun tapping into the pop scene. "The music we make is real; it is something we are proud of. We believe in the music because it means something to us and we can see the positive affect it has on our audiences, elaborates Speece. Each song I write I put my heart and soul into; it is a vulnerable experience that humbles me. I continue to preserver in this crazy industry because music is my passion. I sing for people, and every time I see someone feel something from the music I am rewarded and reminded of how blessed I am to be sharing my gift from God with the world.

Both Nathan and Jillian draw inspiration from people, books, and different experiences to create their eclectic sound. Between the cold winters and summer trips to Lake Michigan, this duo has had ample opportunity to be inspired by the sights and sounds of their native region. Since 2003, Jillian and Nathan have been working, growing, and learning together. In turn, their unique vibe and noteworthy balance has bloomed and many of their songs originated in diverse places and from stories of old as well as new. The passion that emits from The Bergamot's music is quite contagious don't be shocked if you catch it after taking a listen to this imaginative group.

Currently, The Bergamot is going on a fall 2010 nationwide tour and continues working on their newest album (The Haven), which is set to release during the Fall of 2010. The anticipation has begun, stay tuned as The Bergamot takes flight.
