Bass Drum of Death are a garage rock band signed to Fat Possum Records from Oxford, MS. The band was formed by John Barrett, who performed solo with a bass drum and guitar until 2008, when Colin Sneed began playing drums.  Together they make blown-out, blazing songs. Their debut LP, GB City, was released on April 12, 2011. The vinyl was also distributed by Inflated Records. John was formerly Fat Possum's worst employee 3 years ago. He wrote and recorded the whole record himself  using just a drumset, a guitar, a usb microphone, a computer, and a shitload of talent.  The songs are about drugs, trying to make it with religious girls, panic attacks, stealing stuff, mild to severe depression, Elvis appearing in your dreams and giving you advice, gravity bongs and the devil living inside your brain. This record is the soundtrack playing in your head when you're fucked up and walking home in the middle of the night.

They performed live on Fuel TV with MellowHype, of OFWGKTA, playing the song 64. The group also has released a single entitled High School Roaches on Baby Don’t Records in 2010. Bass Drum of Death tours the U.S extensively, toured Europe and the UK at the end of 2011, and have toured Australia in 2012. They have played gigs with bands like Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Toro Y Moi, and DZ Deathrays.
