Interview by Dennis Scanland
MusicEmissions: On tour with Snapcase again. Are you guys good friends and is it fun touring with them?

Boy Sets Fire (Rob Avery): It's fun as hell, they are cool as hell to hang out with and are great to see every night, they always have so much energy and put forth 110 percent every night.

ME: What was your most memorable tour?

BSF: Our european tour, mainly because it was my first visit to europe, and it was so exciting every day to be in a new country and enveloped in a new culture almost everyday! Besides the fact that the shows were amazing!

ME: Can you collectively come up with the band top 10 albums of all time?

BSF: It's constantly changing but i'll give a top ten of what we're all listening to right now...
samiam - astray
weakerthans - new one
dr. dre-chronic 2001
rage against the machine-battle of los angeles
a perfect circle-mer de noms
tool-aenima
deftones-around the fur
radiohead-anything
eminem-new one
tom petty-wild flowers
ME: Besides MusicEmissions.com, does the band have any favourite websites?

BSF: k10k.net stileproject.com

ME: Lyrically, you guys are very political - what do you think some of the most important issues are in the upcoming US election?

BSF: This is just me, you'd get a different response from everyone else in the band...National Healthcare, abortion, social security, third world debt, the environment

ME: Which candidate do you support?

BSF: Ralph Nader and La Duke

ME: Nathan, vocally you can switch from screaming to soothing in a flash. Mike Patton must be one influence for you. Who else?

BSF: Lemme ask him...he says "the dude from tool and the dude from samiam" and he says he doesn't even like mike patton a little bit...

ME: After The Eulogy was a brilliant album. How do you see yourselves improving on this?

BSF: Kinda from combining the two poles of the music (the heavy and the melodic) and making a more cohesive sound, where the songwriting is more solid.

ME: When do you see the band back in the studio?

BSF: Early next year i hope.

ME: Is your new bassist Rob Avery fitting in OK? Rob, Are you enjoying being part of BSF?

BSF: They all hate me, they spit on me while we play, and hide feces in my clothesbag when i'm asleep. No seriously, i love playing with these guys, we've been friends for years before i was in the band and i think (i hope!) that i'm fitting it...

ME: Thank you very much for your time and good luck with the rest of your tour.
