Doughbeezy was born in Cleveland,OH, and moved to the Southeast side of Houston, TX at the age of 13. In 2003 he hooked up with a classmate and recorded his first track. After taking pics and doing freestyles for Headwreckas.com, Dough began recording with a local producer Lil Yung in 2003. In 2005 while working with an indepependent music company called TMI, Dough had the opportunity to perform in and takes trips to places like Dallas, Houston, Miami and New York. When things didnt go as planned with TMI, Doughbeezy and Headwreckas put together "The Cake is Baked" mixtape, a collection of the best songs at the time. It is available for download and was passed out everywhere they went. In 2007, Dough teamed up with another independent artist named Yung Truth and dropped "Truely gettin' Dough", an album produced by Lil Yung and Dru from Scratch.
Through features, youtube clips and local performances the buzz about Doughbeezy down i45 South began to grow and the streets came up with the name “Tha South East Beast”. Dough is known for his CRAZY punchlines and catch phrases. In the fall of 2010 Doughbeezy began attending a weekly talent showcase and cypher for independent artists on the north side of Houston called Kickback Sundays.The event was hosted by SF2, a houston based street wear store and would bring out bloggers, artists and music heads from all over the city. By consistently captivating the crowd with witty, head turning verses, Doughbeezy quickly established himself as a force in the city’s underground/independent rap scene. In the beginning of 2011 Dough began participating in a monthly competition/concert series called, “Best Rapper In Texas“. He won several times and was able to further expand his brand and proved that not only could he spit verses, but he could also put on an actual show.
On April 20, 2011 Doughbeezy released his first solo mixtape, Reggie Bush and Kool-Aid. The release proved to be “fuel to the fire” as Dough began to gain more attention from fans, bloggers, local media and concert promoters. He has performed with and/or opened up for Big Sean, Chevy Woods, Yelawolf, Bun B, Killa Kyleon, A$AP Rocky, Machine Gun Kelly, Stalley, Joey Bada$$, Smoke DZA, Dom Kennedy, and Juicy J. Currently Dough is working with Mr.16, performing shows and recording new music. He was just named by MTV HIVE as one of the Five Best Underground Rappers in Houston Right Now. He was also recently on the Smoker's Club Tour, and was on The All Out Show on Shade 45 Sirius Satellite Radio.
