Make no mistake, French trio DOWN TO EARTH doesn't make concessions or concern itself with musical fashion on their second full-length Prisms. Revealing a progressive interplay between aggressive rock and provocative melody, the album revs up like a dirty shot of adrenaline and burns like alcohol on an fresh wound. The combination of searing vocals, angular guitars and a pounding rhythm section makes for prime moshing material. Needless to say, few bands can pull it off this easily or this well. Shaken and stirred, this band aims to leave bruises and change lives...not the least of all their own. Harmonized vocals shift between a blustery bravado and edgy recklessness, running a gauntlet of self-examination. And the music fights back with everything it's got...building, brooding and burning right up to its finale.
"Even though they sound different, each song on Prisms is connected. Our overall concept was for each song to represent a different part, a different soul, a different color of the human experience" says lead vocalist Nicolas 'Niko' Aigrot. "Prisms is about how we view life through different facets of our personality (our internal prism), how we discover optimism through our ups and downs, how we regret useless choices and try to better ourselves by finding balance and peace of mind. The final track, Mirrors, digs deep into the fear of disappointing our inner child by not realizing the dreams we once had" adds Niko.
"An emotional range of songs played with real control, striking hot with noisy, explosive guitars." - Positive Rage "A 100% positive verdict. This album is the bomb. It will be difficult to find better album this year." - Core And Co "A remarkable, perfectly executed collection of songs reminiscent of the golden age of Jawbreaker." - Next Clues
