Ellie Goulding is a successful English singer-songwriter from London. Studying at the University of Kent, she became exposed to electronic music and eventually took time off from school to pursue singing. Polydor Record signed her in 2009 and released an EP as an introduction to her music. Starsmith, whom she met at the University, helped produce her album debut album Lights, which was released in 2010. After debuted at #1 on the UK Album Charts, Goulding won the Critics' Choice Award at the BRIT Awards.
After heavily touring in the UK, Goulding released an American edition of Lights in February 2011. Her American television debut was on Jimmy Kimmel Live in April of 2011. She also appeared on the 700th episode of Saturday Night Live. Prince William and Kate Milddleton invited Goulding to perform at their wedding reception later that month where she sung her cover of Elton John's 'Your Song' for the couple's first dance.
Ellie Goulding is an avid runner. She plans to compete in London's "Nike + Run To The Beat" half marathon in September 2011. Nike sponsored an event that gave fans an opportunity to run with Ellie. The website, www.EllieRuns.com was made in support of the campaign. Nike also supported a running album, which contained remixes to several songs by Goulding. Several other artists, which include Bassnectar and Chiddy Bang, have also remixed her songs.
Ellie Goulding is currently working on her 2nd studio album, which is said to sound 'very dark and very weird'. This will be a change from the electropop sound Lights has.
