Guy Fox is an explosion of talent and eclectic songwriting - an apt description for a band that shares its name with an 17th century assassin that tried blow up Britain’s Parliament. Their music reflects an ethos of passion and energy; a starry eyed nonchalant approach that is palpable and refreshing. And did we mention that the drummer is one of the main singers?

The bands influences, both collectively and individually, are very apparent in Guy Fox’s sound. Fun dancy high life vibes, rich harmony of the Steely Dan era, large band arrangements of Rubblebucket or Polyphonic Spree, carefree induced indie vocals, hints of old soul and funk breaks, with a little grit of alt rock are swirled together to make cohesive, well balanced music.

Guy Fox is made up of northeastern transplants, all of whom are students of music steeped in different idioms. 3 of the 4 members started playing together while attending Bates college in Maine. After graduation drummer/singer Pete took a job in SF. The remaining two members (Nate and Greg), knowing that they had a unique musical kinship, packed up their car moved to the Bay Area (despite the fact only one of them had ever been to SF... at age 12). But as guitarist/saxophonist Greg puts it “there was the romantic pull of San Francisco as a place full of creativity, and of course the fact that we wanted to pursue music, and we wanted to do that with Pete behind the drum kit.”

Simply stated, Guy Fox’s musical stems from a love of their craft. Their music is a realization in soundwaves of the collective subconscious of the members of the band, not a derivative formulaic pop rendering of such. In other words the music is honest and true to the lives of its creators.

The bands debut self titled EP, released nationally October 16, 2012, is a short tour through of the world of Guy Fox.
