Here We Go Magic was originated by Luke Temple in Brooklyn, NY after releasing two albums under his own name in the 2000s. In early 2009, Temple released his first self-titled album as Here We Go Magic that he recorded by himself on a 4-track recorder at home. He only had access to miminal equipment including a synth machine, which he used in place of a full drum kit and bass guitar. This album was much different then what Temple was releasing as a solo artist with much dreamery loops of sound and electronic textures supporting his lyrics. The band blossumed from just Temple to an indie rock group including Kristina Lieberson on keyboards, Michael Bloch on guitar, Jennifer Turner on bass guitar, and Peter Hale on the drums in 2009.
Their second album,
Pigeons, was recorded in the fall of 2009 and was released by Secretly Canadian on June 8, 2010. They have supported tours with Broken Social Scene, White Rabbits and The New Pornographers in 2010 as well as headlining their own tour across most of the U.S. in 2011. They have also been caught spreading their name to mass audience by playing fests like SXSW, Coachella, and Sasquatch! Their brand new record
A Different Ship was just released in May 2012 and Music Emissions picked Here We Go Magic as one of the top 30 bands to catch at Bonnarro this year! Catch them supporting Andrew Bird on tour in the U.S. in the fall of 2012.
