 Biography
Queensrÿche is an American heavy metal / progressive metal band formed in 1981 in Bellevue, Washington. The band has released eleven studio albums and several EPs and DVDs and continues to tour and record.

Queensrÿche has been relatively successful in the progressive scene, having sold over 20 million albums worldwide including over 6 million albums in the United States.

The release of “Empire “(1990) brought Queensrÿche to the height of their commercial popularity. It peaked at #7 and sold more than three million copies in the United States, more than their previous four releases combined (it was also certified silver in the UK). The power ballad "Silent Lucidity", which featured an orchestra, became the band's first Top 10 single.

The song peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at #1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart. Queensryche performed the song live at the Grammy Awards of 1992, with a supporting orchestra.

The band released “Promised Land” in October 1994 which debuted at #3 and was eventually certified platinum and is their highest charting record to date.

“Hear in the Now Frontier,” released in 1998 debuted at #19 and in the U.S. the album has sold about 330,000 copies to date.

In 2006 they released the sequel to the group's 1988 concept album, “Operation: Mindcrime,” “Operation: Mindcrime II.” The album debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at #14, the highest chart position for a Queensrÿche album since “Promised Land “peaked at #3 in 1994.

Their most recent album, 2009’s “American Soldier” is another concept piece. The album debuted at #25 on the Billboard 200.
