Matt Lorenz:  Vocals, Nylon string guitar, violin, foot percussion, various home-made creations.

Kate Lorenz:   Vocals, Percussion, Accordion, Mallets.

Zak Trojano:  Vocals, Percussion, Acoustic and Electric (slide) guitars.

Rusty Belle has been winning the hearts of audiences since 2006 with their unique live shows and organically crafted studio recordings.  They found a voice steeped in the history of a very personal musical journey that resonates through their love of new and exciting sounds and textures.

  Matt, a seemingly inexhaustible creator of things, has spearheaded this approach by piecing together instruments from any material his imagination can work with.  It's a craft that often leads him to and through dumpsters, gutters and old construction sites.  His passion for the new keeps him working at an almost feverish pace.  He is an inventor of sounds, a prolific songwriter and a wonderfully whimsical improviser.   His ability to coax beauty from strange places is at the heart of Rusty Belle.

If strange beauty is the heart, than the voice of Kate Lorenz is the Soul.  Soul, because of its depth and shocking intimacy.   Soul because of its breadth;  She can sing the blues like a whiskey storm cloud and then sneak up on you with an innocence she wasn't even sure she had.  She tempers the rawness of her instrument with a control and subtlety that brings life to all that she sings.

Zak is a servant of songs.  His playing on both guitars and percussion is like a magnifying glass or a decoder ring.  He highlights and shades with a gifted ear for revealing the true feeling underneath the notes and words.  He plays, writes and sings with a voice that is unmistakably his: focused, personal and full of emotion.
