RecommendVieux Diop is a master of the kora (a 21-stringed instrument indigenous to West Africa) and this is his second offering from Triloka records. Vieux is able to keep a sense of tradition in his music while still managing to forge ahead and add other types of roots music to his sound. He does much promoting of African music in the USA on various radio shows and taking his music to high schools and colleges. West African music is gaining some popularity and Vieux has alot to do with that both with his educating and his outstanding records. For a firsthand listen of West African music and the kora in particular check out this album and you too will be drawn in to the charm.
