I'm fairly new to Edguy (in fact I hadn't heard of the band before receiving Tinnitus Sanctus, their new long player from Nuclear Blast) but rest assured that as soon as I started listening to their retro power-metal sounds I started seeking out more from this German group. After spending some time with their last album, Rocket Ride, I felt I was prepared for the Tinnitus Sanctus review. The two albums are quite different though. I feel that this album is quite a bit heavier and hard hitting than Rocket Ride. The previous album could have been construed as hard rock but there is no denying the metal in Tinnitus.
The song "The Pride of Creation" made me feel strangely younger. I don't know if it was a feeling from the song or whether there was enough elements from the old metal I used to listen to (Helloween etc) to give me that impression.
Some of the songs weren't really that aspiring like "Dragonfly". They just didn't have the oomph or power as some of the other highlights. Reach to the epic track "Speedhoven" for more of the wonderful Power metal that Edguy does so well. The track is almost 8 minutes but it's 8 minutes of metal goodness that you'll want more of.
I think I prefer Rocket Ride to Tinnitus Sanctus but they are both albums that will be listened to quite a bit in the coming days. I welcome Edguy to my musical knowledge and would recommend any metal-head to do the same thing.

Thanks for the rec on this album, I forgot Edguy were making a new one. I think, like you, I enjoy Rocket Ride a bit more, but this record is certainly very good. "Speedhoven" is the best of the bunch, and I for one enjoyed "Dragonfly". Not as much "oomph", but it oozes pure emotion. My only complaint? CHEESY LYRICS! There's a line in "Nine Lives" that goes like "Your hand in my crotch has turned into a boot". I mean, even if English isn't your native language, that has to sound stupid!
