Killing With A Smile is Parkway Drive's debut album. After bursting onto the scene with their split EP with I Killed The Prom Queen and the Don't Close Your Eyes EP along with the various shows around Australia they have employed the help of Adam Dutkiewicz (guitarist of Killswitch Engage) in producing their first studio record.
What the boys from Byron Bay have produced is not exactly original in form of the metalcore genre but they add their own style to their music. This album is all about brutal breakdowns, monstrous screams and hardcore energy.
The main thing to look out for on this album is Parkway's lead vocalist (Winston McCall) who's brutal vocals and growls set them apart from the rest of the field and both guitarists set the world alight with their guitar riffs and solos.
However the weakness of this album is their over use of the breakdown. Why this may be good at live shows it can get a little boring/repetitive on the album.
In conclusion I find this is a must for any metalcore fan out there however if your not fan of the genre I suggest you try before you buy.
