Prodigy is a band I thought was done, finished, kaput. I thought the band would have threw in the towel after the abysmal Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned, but with the release of Invaders Must Die we are given yet another driven electronica album from the UK Prodigy crew. You might have thought the original magic would have been back with Keith Flint and Maxim returning to the fold but after only a couple tracks you know that Invaders Must Die is far from essential, albeit slightly stronger than their previous effort.

Invaders Must Die is a decent album but with that being said, it lacks some originality that we found in earlier Prodigy albums. The lead single from the album is the hard hitting "Omen". It does have a lot of energy going for it. And many of the other tracks are very high energy but the songs feel dated now. I feel like I'm living in 1990s again. There are no immediately memorable tracks like "Smack My Bitch Up" or "Firestarter" here. In fact I felt like going back and listening to some of Prodigy's older albums to recall the glory that these guys had. Probably the closest anthem on this album is "World's On Fire" but it ends up being extremely repetitive.

In a surprising turn, Invaders Must Die actually features live drums courtesy of Dave Grohl. I do have to give him props. The percussion is a consistent element on the album.
