I remember - years ago, hearing CAKE for the first time. "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" was playing on a CD my aunt had burned for my mother. We rode down the road jamming to this song over and over again. After I got home, I just had to look up this new band!! I immediately fell in love with all of their songs - but this album kept my attention. CAKE's flare with their alternative style is such a wonderful gem amidst all of the other bands that come to sound the same over time. Each song has such an original sense. No one song sounds the same - which is such an important attribute. I love this album - I vote it totally kick-ass. If you've never heard CAKE - I highly recommend this album first. Specifically Short Skirt/Long Jacket. Should you take my advice, I hope you enjoy it!!
