Ekova is quite unique in the fact that singer Diedre Dubois sings no lyrics. Although sounding very ethnic in origin she admits that the entire set of "lyrics" that she sings are here own improvised language with no meaning in any language. She wanted to achieve the level to where vocals are just another instrument. Along with Dierdre are an Iranian percusionist and an Algerian guitar/lute player and together they manage to create a very middle eastern sounding record. If you listen to and just float off to distant lands you can actually see the sand blowing in the desert while the camels are walking on the horizon. Ekova have created a beautiful world music creation.
