Why Men Fail is the second solo release for the former This Living Hand member Neilson Hubbard. In 1997 he broke free with The Slide Project which presented Hubbard as more of a pop revivalist than TLH's Galaxie 500 sound. On Why Men Fail Neilson demonstrates his unique voice in a perfect studio setting; mixed and produced by industry masters as well as having top notch performers helping him out (his close friend, Garrison Starr can be heard on multiple tracks as well as Cracker's David Lowrey). He has no problem showing his emotional side as demonstrated on "The Girl That Killed September" and is also able to rock out in a Matthew Sweet style , "The Last American Hero". His falsetto is one of the most beautiful ones I have ever heard and the songwriting is top notch.
