I'm definitely guilty of stereotyping by artist name...and Freddie Sipo is yet another artist that proves I should stop. Let's be honest, if you're reading this review, its a half-ass miracle, because of his artist name. It simply does not inspire discovery, and so let's move forward from the name and get to the heart of this producer turned singer-song writer.

Much like his name, his album craves a definitive unique quality, as I'm over-run with comparisons. That's not to say this album isn't as enjoyable as those comparisons, which include the high pitched full sounding melodies of Ours and Jeff Buckley or even the guitar experimentations of legends like Radiohead. Repetitive in nature, but purely relaxing and impressive "Year Of The White Rose" explores multi-genre mincing, and moods.

Tempo changes are abundant from song to song and on internally on each song. No pun intended "See Change" and its outro of madness into "Rise" the following track of progressive soft touch. The lead track "He Who Has Ears Let Him Hear" immediately exemplify's Sipo's range, and instrumentally sets the tone for the rest of the recording. Waves of rhythms that follow a rollercoaster ride on the tracks of progressive rock and experimental indie. "Dare You - 1" and "...-2" obviously have a connection, but the strongest track thusfar seems to be "White Light", which begins with a calmness and falls deep into its chorus and harmonics.

Though his voice sits at a constant high-pitch and quite honestly this gets old to my ears, the entire ride is well worth its $3.00 purchase (and more...). Simply follow the links and you won't be disappointed. Without a doubt, Sipo will make my top ten Indie Of The Year.

Holy crap! This Sipo is really good! Definitely a Jeff Buckley flavor but nothing too crazy. I'm contemplating throwing my vote at Year Of The White Rose. Listen to the songs and you decide.
