John Hughes is the owner of Hefty and one of the members of the band Bill Ding. Italian filmmaker Asia Argento, daughter of horror film legend Dario Argento, had contacted John to use some of his work with Bill Ding but the further they got into conversation, the more that John felt he needed to be involved in the film even more than that. So he created a new work with his former bandmate, Dan Snazelle, and this is the result. What Hughes has created here is not just a soundtrack but a great ambient musical piece that is moody but is entirely creative. There are bleeps and blips similar to other Hefty releases but there are actual vocals on here too. He even recruited Tortoise’s John McEntire to help out on here. John has created an album darker than most of his other work and that works with or without the film to back it up. Scarlet Diva proves that John is capable of doing almost any style of music too.
