Naree - Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde
At the risk of sounding like a cheeseball with no sense of manhood, I am digging the Naree EP release, In This Life Or The Next. Partially cause it hits close to home personally right now, but mostly due to the rhythms and energy.
Though this is a formation, and not just a singer-songwriter, most of these songs are of broken hearted inspiration from lead vocalist Naree. Forgetting the lyricism, she has a carefully confident and soothing voice that should latch onto many listeners. Tracks like "Songs Writen On An Arm" have terrific softening instrumentation that compliment her voice with a relaxed comfort. The intro track "Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde" has a spunk that reminds me very much of the very slightly celebrated FeFe Dobson. While normally I dont celebrate MTV artists, both Dobson and Naree have a strong grasp on their own vocal chords and the rhythm that backs it.
Do I plan on jamming out to Naree in my truck? Probably not, but I do foresee a very compatible career with Mix radio for Naree if she's given the opportunity.
