It seems as though we have reached a day and age where the music scene is being overrun by teenagers.  More and more bands are getting signed to record labels right out of high school.  Some bands are just plain terrible and disappear after their 15 minutes of fame, but then there are the other bands that show promise and prove that they deserve to be signed and be heard.  That is the case with the band I See Stars.  These youngsters signed to Sumerian records before a lot of them even graduated.  When hearing that a record label has signed some kids that are still enrolled in high school, it can be quite questionable as to how good a band like that could be.

I had previously heard of I See Stars, but just thought of them to be another one of the trendy bands trying to hop on the bandwagon of electronica hardcore.  But after watching their music video for What This Means To Me, which was featured on the front page of purevolume, I was instantly hooked. The lyrics are very clever and Devin Oliver has the voice to back those lyrics up.  For his age, he has an incredible vocal range that will take him far in the music industry. Right now, the hottest thing in the genre of rock music is pop-rock(All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, Paramore) and electronica rock (Attack Attack!, 3OH!3).  The thing that will set I See Stars on the right path to success is that they have the elements from both styles of music and they know how to use it properly.

I strongly recommend anyone purchase this album if you're a fan of music that has a lot of keyboard and synth backing, but just enough to not overpower all the music.    There are a few heavy songs on the album but the majority of 3D keeps it on a steady level with an equal balance of a singing and screaming combination.  It's actually really impressive, and something that will not let you down.  If you're on a budget, then I recommended these tracks: The Common Hours, I Am Jack's Smirking Revenge, Save The Cheerleader, What This Means To Me  I See Stars has proved that they are quite the promising band with their debut full length album 3D.  Now only time will tell if they have the talent to run with it.
