Every so often an artist comes along that seems a bit too genuine. Is that possible? This is Zach Ashton. After listening to Ashton's latest release Just Like Beautiful, one feels as if they have eaten a cookie laced with your own memories. There is an erie nostalgia in his delivery of both words and music. It is hard to put a finger on who Zach Ashton sounds like. There are elements of Sting, Ryan Adams, Randy Newman (???) as well as Jack Johnson. Just Like Beautiful seems to have a song for everyone. It goes from pop to bossa nova and somehow ends on somber acoustic walk into thought provoking acoustic simplicity. This is an album you can listen to in its entirety. I am listening to it now.
