Danko Jones is rocking just as hard as he did on his debut album, My Love Is Bold. Danko is backed by two individuals, John Calabrese (Bass) and Damon Richardson (Drums). There are times when they still manage to hit you over the head with sonics. Along with his sophomore album comes some major label support (Canada anyway) and hopefully it is enough to get Mr. Jones the recognition he deserves. You want energy in your hard rock bands? Danko Jones is just what the doctor ordered. After Born A Lion is over I always take a deep breath just to try and get caught up. Do you like your guitar riffs mammoth sized? Danko's guitar is huge. At times, you are shocked that there is one guitar in the band. Jones' is also quite a showman, so the best place for his music is in a live setting but Born A Lion does a fine job catching a lot of that energy. You may have heard "Sound of Love" on the radio already. This song provides you with a good idea of the straight ahead rock that this band is all about. Born A Lion is a solid album throughout. Something you don't find too much these days. Don't look for any sappy ballads. In fact, "Sound of Love"? is probably the sweetest song on the album. So many sex-drenched cliches in such little time.
