I picked this album up after I read great reviews about how great the album was because he wrote it during a stent in rehab. Eminem has always impressed me emotionally. I was extremely disapointed with Encore, in fact I thought it was pure crap. That's the exact same way I feel about this album.
I really gave this album a chance. I think Eminem should have ignored his music reps and just focused on rehab. I actually threw the album away. Eminem is great when he's got his angry face on, but this album was pure shock value. I guess every artist has at least one album that's awful. This album ties his album "Encore" as the biggest piece of shit in his discography.
You'd think that someone who performs so intensely (the re-up) and works so closely with people like Dr. Dre wouldn't be capable or even want to release something like this album. I can't even give him a chance with this album. Artists like Eminem are capable and have all the talent to express their feelings and produce absolute works of art. The album "Recovery" is no differnt.
Shady's early day's were definately intense and a tribute to his talent. I've always enjoyed his appearances on other artist's albums and think he still has the talent to produce great songs, of note, the recent "I need a Dr" and "I love the way you lie". Nevertheless, I'll still buy every album he puts out because he always seems to pull through. I just think he should give up the stupid puppet dog voice/comedy act because it's not doing him any favors.
