The Kind - Waiting For The Harvest
The Kind is Florida based band that tries to inject one hell of a lot of styles into one band. This can work well if the band is very experienced. Waiting For The Harvest is The Kind’s sophomore album and you can start to feel this band mesh. Their eclectic mix draws from funk, ska, country, reggae, blues and lots of jazz. This leads to a bit of a dysfunctional band but there are definite charms that they possess. The Kind aren’t afraid to try anything and proceed to do it. After a quick listen to Waiting for the Harvest you can hear the diversity involved with this7 piece collective. Everytime you start lose interest they dive into something completely different. The Kind would be a band that I would imagine could put on a killer live show and if I’m not mistaken, it’s bands like this that end up with a very fanatical listener base. We have a band similar to them here in Calgary called Interstellar Root Cellar. While not for everyone, The Kind do have talent and will appeal to quite a broad audience. If you missed something the first time, listen again and you will catch something completely different that knocks you off your feet.
