Chris Carrabba, the creative provider and soaring lead vocalists of the newly released, "Alter the Ending," brings Dashboard Confessional into a new era. Although while looking at the band's current Facebook page, one can discover the young EMO fans still clinging to the driving and energetic beats of "Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" and "Swiss Army Romance," those days appear to be a distant memory. "Alter the Ending" gives the impression that Carrabba and the boys are growing up and taking their love of acoustic emotional ballads to a new level. No longer the "Tween-age" story of summer love, "Alter the Ending" brings the story of emotions of the heart into view. Carrabba and his band give the notion they view the world through the glass of a prophetic undertone of love and learning lessons from living life even if it means "Learning from Disaster."
Musically speaking, Carrabba continues to showcase his towering harmony laced melodies. His tone and musicality are preserved on yet another album and his band continues to push the limits of their own musicality. "Alter the Ending," gives the listener an opportunity to feast on the full band studio mixes along side of the acoustic versions of each song. Through the acoustic mixes, listeners will be treated to the familiar sound of Dashboard's old style music for confession creating a fantastic mix of new era meets old style. More melodious and placid than the last two albums, "Alter the Ending" keeps the listener guessing at each chord change creating a sophisticated feel not seen in many past titles by the band.
Overall, Carrabba and his band have produced a well thought out album. The music is passionate allowing the listener to enjoy the journey that transverses humanity unlike other bands in the genre. This Sunday driving album is a must have for those who want to relax, think and touch humanity through the ideas of a powerful writer and musician.
