Guilty pleasures are not devoid in Colorado. Denver area is holding onto a little bit of guilt themselves. VIces I Admire has been developing since 2002, but now I wonder where they've been all this time. Though they're not quite ready for Rock Radio stardom, they certainly stand above any ordinary effort I've gotten lately. But only a fool would get into that just yet. Songs like "Denouement: An Intermezzo" are crunchy and outright tasty....Very energetic from the start, throughout the record you're being exposed to simple but catchy melodies. Such as the instrumentally long winded ""Kiss, Kiss" which exposes an edgy for radio today groove. Methods lyrically are everywhere on "Apathology", which runs alongside the album title "The Politics Of Apathy". Dave Curtis (Lead Vocals) happens upon a unique set of pipes. "Keep Killing Me" is a brutal song, showcasing their ability to flow on distorted guitars and bass. Dave Curtis (Lead Vocals) happens upon unique a unique set of pipes. Though comparisons to many like Jared Gomes (hed P.E.) and Donnie Hamby (doubleDrive) come quickly to mind, these guys can manage a lot more than I'm hearing. This recording has intensity, emotion and solid song writing. From one tempo to another, "It is" , has respectable ivory coloring. In addition to the leading piano bars that string this song along, you're still treated to sharp edges of guitar and lungs. I haven't felt guilty about a balls to the wall album like this in a while. Perhaps the lyrics, 'I am, out of time' on the nearly title track "Apathology" are the most poetic and applicable. I'm not sure what its worth to the world, cause its entirely possible The U.S. may finally be done with the metallic side of Hip Hop. But, to the gentlemen who recorded this effort... Fans of Snot, Hed Pe and Safety Word Orange should investigate further Thanks for the hope of future recordings...
