&When The Loveless Goodnight Trail album started playing, I could have sworn it was Husker Du. The track “Family Dollar even starts out with the signature Husker Du drum fill. Later on in the album the band kicks into more of a Dinosaur Jr. feel than Husker Du. You can really tell where this band picked up its influences from. Their cover and name make them sound and look like they are an alt-country band but nary a lapsteel guitar can be found on this album. Have a listen to “Making Out With Dan. This one sounds very similar to the J Mascis school of thinking. Indeed, The Loveless & Goodnight Trail (that’s a huge name too) knows how to rock. They do have a lot of similarity to bands of the past and don’t do much to make their sound more relevant but if you are fans of any of the bands mentioned then you should check out this Seattle based group.
