Coming to us from the Democratic Republic of Congo, So Kalmery is ready to be introduced to world music fans world-wide. He takes music from the areas that he was born and raised in and culminated it with the wealth of music he has discovered over his lifetime. At 47 years of age and just releasing a proper debut, one can’t help but wonder the experience that So has had. He sings in many different languages such as English, Kiswahili, French, and many others. His instrument of choice is the acoustic guitar and he is very well versed at this too. There is no question that Kalmery’s music is deep in African tradition but there is no one style that So uses throughout the album. Bendera results in a very diverse African music album. Kalmery has toured with some very prominent artists like “Paco de Lucia, Los Van Van, Ben Harper and John McLaughlin.
