Singer/songwriter Neal Casal has been in around music since his acclaimed debut album Fade Away Diamond Time was released in 1995. He's spent the last 5 or so years with Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, and has just released a stunning new photo book of his time with that band: Ryan Adams & the Cardinals: A View of Other Windows. Click HERE to read our interview with Neal.
This high-quality book serves as a terrific photo journal of an underrated band at work, at play, at rest, and all the little moments inbetween on the road and in the studio.
Casal has a keen eye and an artist vision to go along with his musical talents. As an actual member of the band, he's able to capture the intimate moments naturally. For that reason alone, this beautiful book stands head and shoulders above the usual tour photo books. It also serves as a terrific souvenir for fans of the band.
The personal and honest Introduction by Adams, and the light-hearted but equally personal Afterword by the Grateful Dead's Phil Lesh provide nice bookends to the high-quality photos, band comments, and captions that grace the pages.
Not just a must-have for Cardinals fans, A View of Other Windows should also find a spot on the coffee table of any fan of music and/or photography. Highly recommended.
