Luna - Close Cover Before Striking
It seems strange that Luna would release an EP just months after the release of a full-length but that is indeed what Dean Wareham has decided to do with Close Cover Before Striking. And this fan is not disappointed at all. Close Cover starts out with the buzz saw style song called “Astronaut which is one of the most upbeat Luna songs ever. Then Dean and company do a beautiful job on covering the Stones’ “Waiting On A Friend. “Drunken Whistler takes on more of a bluesy sound but typical Luna fare. The album takes another twist with the catchy track “The Alibi in which the guitar riff works like heroin, getting into all your dark corners. They leave you with the epic “Neon Lights making a delightful Luna sandwich perfect for snacking on. Even though this EP is just 7 songs long, you leave feeling satisfied. You will also find videos for “Lovedust and “1995 on this little EP. Close Cover Before Striking is a great value for any Luna fan.
