Where a lot of singer/songwriters curl up and fade away after being dropped from a major label, Aimee Mann has done the complete opposite. Her name is more recognizable in the somewhat mainstream arenas and her music was featured front and center in the blockbuster movie, Magnolia. The former 'Til Tuesday lead singer has really done quite well for herself with her last album Bachelor No. 2 and her fine follow-up Lost In Space. While her lyrics are very easy to listen to, you still have to pay attention to catch what she is singing about. Aimee is capable of reaching out to two crowds, the one who is completely lyric conscious and the one who like pleasant sounding music. The arrangements are subtle and their main purpose, to bring Mann into the forefront, succeeds at all times. She hasn't strayed far from her signature sound over the past few years but Aimee Mann is a gem in huge ocean of wannabes.
