1 Giant Leap is a project that Jamie Catto (Faithless) and Duncan Bridgeman dreamed up. What happened is that they travelled the world with a laptop and a digital camera collecting recordings from literally all over the world. They would have recordings that they did in Africa and then got musicians in Asia to collaborate on the song instantly. Singers like Michael Stipe could actually hear the musicians in India and the drummers in Africa and could play right along with the music. They continued this throughout the entire world until they had a gamut of music and came home to produce it. The music is totally groundbreaking and inspirational. It makes what most of us do everyday look a little less important and proves that the real international language is indeed music. I would recomend that you spend a few extra dollars on the DVD. There is so much breathtaking scenery that Jamie and Duncan collected on their journeys and the way they put this to music is ingenius. I really can't say enough about 1 Giant Leap. Some of the interviews and the way they try and look at different fundamental concepts like sex, death, God, and many others. Believe it or not but Dennis Hopper is an integral part of the DVD and is looked upon for many of his ideals. This DVD is an amazing feat and they have helped to create some amazing music. Support this type of thing because it will ultimately bring our crazy world together in ways that we have never dreamed.
