Solas - The Hour Before Dawn
Seamus Egan has led this semi-traditional Irish band since the early 1990's and gained fans worldwide. Even though Egan was born in the US he moved to Ireland with his parents when he was three and started in music by playing the tin whistle shortly after. This is the groups fourth album (all on Shanachie) and the first with the vocal talents of Deidre Scanlan. Solas is able to take traditional Irish music and make it relevant in today's music standards. The guitar playing and instrumentation is amazing as are the shared lyrics of Deirdre and John Doyle. Some of the tracks just make your jaw drop open in amazement at the bands musical talents. The album finishes off with a cover of Sarah McLachlan's "I will remember you" which was co-penned by Seamus himself. Find out why Solas continues win awards and why they are so cherished in Ireland. The album also has a multimedia video included for your computer.
