Most would agree most popular artists out there have something truly special to give to their fans. This goes above the typical attributes like raw talent, amazing songs, nice voice, or even a very marketable look, sound & image. Theres something truly infectious at the core of these artists that simply makes us feel good when we listen to them. Whatever it is - they all seem to have it.

Today I listened to the latest CD from Minnesota musical 2-some singer/songwriter Jeff Noller & Vonnie Kyle (A Perfect Shade of Green) (2011). Venturing to their website it is a very professional presentation showing this band is clearly an up & coming band or sorts. From start to finish this double CD from Skittish delivers the goods & is very pleasurable. It has a very strong acoustic, alternative rock quality to it, & even dabbles in Rock, & even Alternative Rock. Any fans of any of these musical styles will enjoy this latest release from Shittish. Its clearly marketed for those who like the mystique of a male & female tandem vocal delivery. I get the impression Shittish is rolling with what they knows as performers & songwriters. Favorite tracks include Track 1 (Living Atop), Track 5 (Maggie) & Track 3 (Wrecking Ball). Both CDs have an amazing feel. Within each one of these compositions Noller & Kyle finds their musical mojo. The band is spot on & just makes the whole CD even more marketable The overall vibe is mysterious, reckless & cannot be easily defined.

I see Skittish as a diamond in the rough, with an amazing amount of potential. As time goes by he will no doubt hear from these 2 again. I am eager to hear what his next release will sound like. I am also eager to see what the future holds for these 2 as well as they fit together like a hand in glove. In close most famous artists out there have it Im not so sure what it but Skittish (Jeff & Vonnie) has whatever it may be.

After listening to the sample songs from this album, I noticed something rare. I would hum a tune in my car and think, "What is that from." The answer would keep coming back: that Skittish song I listened to the other day.
Well, I jumped on itunes and downloaded the whole thing. The only thing I can really express right now is "WOW." This double-album, from a fairly underground band has become one of my all-time favs.
The first side is indie-rock, but clever indie-rock. It really stands out from other bands I hear on the radio or on music blogs. It has a gritty feeling to it; an almost live urgency. It has the feeling of being young and alive but the lyrics are far more sophisticated than the run-of-the-mill fare that populates college radio.
The second side is more laid back. It has some of the most original sounds peppered through the songs. A slamming door as a rhythm track!?! A wind-up toy scoring complete verses?! Again, wow.
The songs are for more mature audiences on this side whereas they deal with divorce, growing out of college, and giving into the machine of modern day living. I'll admit to crying during one of the songs as well.
A band that is able to touch you, and entertain you so easily doesn't come about very often. Pick up "The Perfect Shade of Green" next chance you get. If you like indie rock with a brain, and folk with originality, you'll love Skittish.
