Some bands make music that is perfect for a car ride. Good Old War shows that they are masters at making simplistic yet fun music. With this album they have essentially made the sound track to a picturesque summer drive down a road, with the windows down and the wind blowing.
They keep the Indie folk vibes rolling with their self-titled album. Their principle sound is intact with folk guitar and easy going vocals flow throughout. This album is the new millenniums version of the 1960s classic The Sound of Silence. The percussion is laid back and accompanied by the happy go lucky lyrics that make anyone smile. Their harmonies are catchy. All three members of the band contribute to the soft yet fun vocals. The entire album is separated into three parts by the instrumental tracks Good, Old, and War. This makes the album a little more structured than their last effort but the band has essentially picked up where they left off.
The whole album has a simple fun sound that is catchy and heartfelt. One listen through this trios s Good Old War will bring an immediate sense of nostalgia that is perfect company on any road trip.
