I was turned onto Mogwai back with Young Team and I felt that I should never get another album in case I was disappointed. That was then and this is now and I decided to give their new Rock Action a shot. What a misnomer the title Rock Action is. It does everything but rock. Not a problem though with Mogwai. If you have heard Mogwai before you should know what to expect with their hypnotically swirling guitars and atmospheric arrangements. If you haven’t witnessed one of their albums you will be in for a treat if you enjoy any type of post-rock music. On the 8+ minute “You Don’t Know Jesus� I never got bored at all. The build up to the climax is done very cleverly as well as the finale. The song after, “Robot Chant� is a barrage of sounds coming at you providing quite a sonic wall for over a minute. Mogwai are masters at the post-rock thing and are sure to be around for a while putting out quality stuff like this. I guess I have to go back and get everything in between.
