The Mooney Suzuki is a relatively new band but they have all the guts and glory of Detroit legends MC5. While Electric Sweat is only the bands second album, they seem to have nailed down the sound that they wanted to go for. Funny thing is, who can nail down sloppy, trashy rock like this? Fact of the matter is, Mooney Suzuki play every song like there’s no tomorrow. Electric Sweat kicks off with the title track’s squealing feedback before they kick in with killer riff. Then along comes vocalist Sammy James Jr. ready to whip things into shape. Fun is the order of the day and this is the band to keep it on the menu. Sammy and the band break into a quiet track on the aptly titled “The Broken Heart. Other than that it’s rock ‘n’ roll in the third degree from beginning to end. The Mooney Suzuki is a killer band with more than one gimmick to keep things interesting. They have instantly moved up to my “must see list of live shows.
