Wonderful lighthearted release from this growing Canadian-born singer/songwriter. Enio seems to have embraced his electro-pop stylings with Neon Dreaming, a collection of songs he wrote when he was a teenager.
Although the songs scream adolescence, Enio seems keenly aware of this fact and plays up every instance of unadulterated teenager angst. It's an interesting approach and one that I commend--especially within an emerging musical culture that embraces artists who remain relatively stoic and reserved. Enio is placing his heart firmly on his shoulder, and makes no qualms or apologies for it.
Stellar tracks include "Flowers and Beautiful Songs", "Little Trees" and the coming-out story of "Overstayed"--a testament to the fear of coming out to parents who will not be accepting.
