Received Transgressed & Transmitted is the fourth album for the Edinburgh band The Nectarine No 9 and it is their jump to bigger and better things with Beggars Banquet backing them. A few listens are necessary in order to fully appreciate the madness that Nectarine create here. They are known for their eclectic tastes and different arrangements. It is wildly apparent on this disc. And if you can believe it, the band has chosen to produce the album solely themselves. It works though because I don’t think anyone else would be able to understand where the band was coming from. The group uses all sorts of instruments in order to get the sound you hear. You will find vibes, guitar, marimba, clavinet, piano, bongos, as well as many other different percussion instruments. The songs are fairly subdued for the most part but there are times when The Nectarine No 9 end up pretty noisy. They are an art rock band for the new millennium. It is time for the rest of the world to hear one of Scotland’s little secrets.
