Occasionally one comes across a single where the B-Side which is better than the A-Side. Now, don't get me wrong, 'Diet' is a very good track indeed. But hell, 'It's Obvious' is much much better. And to be honest, the shortened single version is actually better than the longer, more ponderous and somewhat overproduced album version as well. Both tracks are typical of the overtly feminist agenda of the Au Pairs which put them a level higher than many of their politically-minded contemporaries. 'Diet' is concerned with the role of women in the family while 'It's Obvious' is much more of a feminist anthem. Sadly, this militant stance was the principal reason why they did not get the commercial success they deserved - we cannot have the unwashed masses actually thinking for themselves, can we? Still, this single is a cracker then from one of the many often overlooked bands of the early post punk era.
