RecommendA local Calgary band that deserves way more attention that they have been garnering as of late. The New 1-2 is an amalgamam of sonic sounds manipulated to such frequencies as to burst your fragile ear drums. No not really, but it sure sounded good. They mix influences such as Sonic Youth, Doughboys, Jawbox, and Fugazi and manage to pull off a quite unique sounding mix. At times they almost border on melody but for the most part it is a little more on the noisy, adventurous sounds. I think this is a matter of a very talented group of musicians that just don't care. They have a great sound that would end up selling if only they would market themselves.
