It has to be said that this is not my favourite Bauhaus single, but it is still a good number to get going any casual interest in the music of Bauhaus. The cover is in many ways typical - blood red with a black satanic figure in the middle - and the lyrics rather cemented Bauhaus? growing Goth reputation, though the music is ultimately much more fulfilling than that.
I went through a phase of buying Bauhaus singles in my last year at university and first year thereafter and as a consequence I always regarded Bauhaus as more of a singles band than anything else. I never know why I didn't get a few Bauhaus albums back in these days. Aah, I do now - money (or rather the lack of it).
Incidentally, Lagartija Nick is now the name of a Spanish flamenco group. How far can one get from Goth!?
