This is another good offering from Bauhaus dating from the early eighties when the band were at their peak. They did make some damn fine records in their day. However, to my mind, Bauhaus were now beginning to struggle in the quest for pop success. Having started out as post punks and getting associated, probably more unintentionally than deliberately, with the nascent Goth craze, they were now desperately trying to get mainstream attention. (I presume that their record company had something to do with this as well). This was their most commercial release and yet, like others before it, it fell flat before a record buying public largely obsessed with the facile associations of the new romantics and the continual incomprehensible appeal of 'shake-your-funky-booty'. Bauhaus disappeared from my rader after this because, shortly after this was released, I stopped buying Bauhaus singles as I moved to Hong Kong where 7" singles were utterly unobtainable.
