It is almost axiomatic that some of those who have made the greatest contributions to a field are those who receive the least credit. If the contribution of Chuck Berry to modern music, and especially modern guitar music, were measured in terms of fame and recognition, then Berry would eclipse many who came after, including possibly even the Beatles.
Berry's choice of Beethoven as the classical music composer to entitle this track probably would have had more to do with musical issues such as rhythm and scanning. Nonetheless, I cannot help feeling that the deaf old German would have smiled somewhat wryly at the antics of the rock and rollers compared with his own rambunctious life.
