When the Boo Radleys stopped being a shoegazer band, they became a pop band. It was a path which the Verve trod as well. After all, shoegaze was on its way out - it was too introspective and, well too damn arty I suppose - and Britpop was coming in. Switch quickly to avoid being left behind. Jump to the new bandwagon as it comes along. Some managed this successfully; others fell by the wayside.
"Wake up, Boo" is one of those feel good tracks you just love to have in your collection. There is no other reason for it - it is not musical virtuosity; it contains no deep and meaningful message; and it isn't even influential on what came after. It is just bloody good fun. Infectious hooks and a catchy refrain. What I there not to like about this?
