Seven Against Thebes (7AT) is a wave of new music to emerge out of the dark underbelly of Seattle. I really didnt know what to expect as I spun this CD. Would 7AT be another grunge throwback band, or would it be overcompensating Cookie Monster rock?
Instead this CD literally blew me out of my chair. This 4 piece knows how to play. 7AT combines raw hard rock with a Progressive rock edge that will remind you of TOOL, Stone Temple Pilots & Alice in Chains. Drummer Bruce Burgess is just as accomplished as Danny Carrey, & guitarist Cyrus Rhodes dishes out Cantrell like solos & in the pocket rhythm guitar. Last but not least Singer Rusty Hoyle reminds me a lot of Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, & Chris Cornell. All songs are action packed, highly entertaining & adrenalinized. Lyrical content dark & mysterious.
7AT's EQUILIBRIUM EP is one of the hottest new bands Ive heard this year.
