I know that most contemporary music writers are sick of metalcore and screamo music. I sympathize, to a point. Some people are a little quick to dismiss every band that gets cast under the label of "just another screamo band", which is particularly unfair to groups like Hopes Die Last. I consider myself quite in tune with the screamo scene, and take my word for it when I say that Six Years Home is perhaps the greatest achievement in this genre. I know that to some of you that's not saying much, but it takes a lot to separate yourself from the rest. Hopes Die Last have elevated themselves to a mighty pedestal of glory in the holy city.

Hopes Die Last is one of those rare cases of a band that treats the vocals as an integral part of the music, which becomes even rarer once you start delving into more and more screamo music. Every aspect of Six Years Home fits beautifully together. There are no extraneous 2 minute guitar solos, or 20 second screams of incoherence. For me, the best part of screamo vocals is when the singer creates a smooth flow between words, and uses the screams to accentuate those words that hit the hardest. Daniele Tofani understands this, and executes it masterfully in every song.

The only thing that is holding this album back is the irresponsibility of music labels dealing with screamo music. Hopes Die Last should be at the forefront of this genre, showing the world how to stand out. That's right, THE WORLD. Hopes Die Last come to us straight out of Vatican, Italy. A totally untapped market for screamo music, and what's happening? Completely wasted potential. I sincerely hope that somebody realizes the raw talent this band has and capitalizes on it.

Six Years Home sits comfortably in my favorite music collection. Structurally speaking, the album is flawless. Every drum fill is thumping and spontaneous, while the explosion of dual guitars makes every song unique and enjoyable to listen to. As time passes, I'll be sure to give this album a classic rating. As I said before, I know a lot of people are turned off of screamo music, and I can't blame you. But please, for the sake of giving a new band a reason to keep making music, give Six Years Home a listen.

Ok, enough with the name calling. Either suck it up, or move on to a different site and insult someone else. Because of your crass language I am going to have to edit your last post. No one deserves that :(

Caldougherty, please stop posting these comments on my review. It looks unprofessional not only for me, but for the entire site, if you keep complaining on an editorial review. If it really bothers you that much, go post a comment to dscanland's page. Everyone on this site has decided you have no basis for your accusation of plagiarism. At this point, your weak attempts to make me look like the bad guy are pathetic.

Caldougherty, first off, welcome to the site. Secondly, please tread lightly when you are accusing plagiarism. I read both reviews extensively and the only similarity I can see is that you both love this album (too bad you can't find that in common) and the statement "Straight out of Vatican City". That's a fact, not a judgement in music. So, lets drop all accusations and see what other writing chops you happen to have. Brandon (Sinist3r Punk) has proven his writing over many years here on Music Emissions. You've posted one review. If you feel strongly that this is still a blatant rip off then feel free to take your writing elsewhere.

Now, it may look like your review may have sparked Brandon's interest in this band. Take that as a compliment. That's the reason you get into journalism.

And as for our write offs, yes, they are for our paid editors only. Don't worry, we have a user one in the works that should happen in the next few months. Keep an eye out!

BTW - Thank you both for presenting a new band to the site. I'm going to be checking out Hopes Die Last.

First, that battle was for Music Emissions editorial writers, people that are actual journalists and writers that Dennis sees fit to write for him.
Second, you can't post 1 user review on this site, throw a fit because you think I stole your review, then make a bunch of crazy demands like you run this site. If you still think I plagiarized your work, then take it somewhere else. I know I didn't steal anything, and at this point you are grasping for things to get jealous and angry over.
