Remember how cutting edge the Wu-Tang clan were when they first hit the streets? They kind of lost their way. Now coming from the underground is Cannibal Ox who is picking up where Wu-Tang left off right around 36 Chambers days. Yup, Cannibal Ox really is that strong. Their music is dark and their ryhmes are hard, cold and straight to the point and the point isn’t always pleasant. Although Cannibal Ox comes from the underground, the same place as other hip hop groups like the Dilated Peoples and others, they are supremely dark. The samples are there for the brooding feeling that you get throughout the entire album. They work fantastic and it gets you on edge as Vast Aire and Vordul Megilah’s raps knock you down for the count. Gloom is Cannibal Ox’s order of the day and although the future looks bright for this hip hop group, the music sure ain’t.
