Our favorite Japanese noise band with a past in bondage video and urine throwing is back with their first record of new material since the late ‘90s. C.C.C.C have never, in any of their various configurations, placed catharsis second to any emotion, and the forty-five minute track that comprises "Chaos is the Cosmos" shows that band mainstays Hiroshi Hasegawa and Myuko Hino still have the need to blow off some major steam.

Hasegawa's sheets of gritty guitar offer a balance to Hino's vocals and spontaneous poetry, both of which are a Yoko Ono level of caterwaul and Diamanda Galas level of harrowing. An acquired taste to be sure, but never less than compelling.  What is equally harrowing is the stamina of this piece, which never loses its passion and holds all the way through a crazed peak of noise and rage. You expect exhaustion,   fingers, a cough or two from too much screaming-but the music never breaks down, or loses its intensity. That alone ought to be worth something to those who might run from this one; endurance counts too...

"Chaos is the Cosmos" checks in on C.C.C.C. after all this time and we still find volume and hysteria to spare. With some Japanoise bands you can at least find some respite in their humor or outrageous excess. C.C.C.C. just deliver the message, pounding it relentlessly home for whoever is up for staying the course with them.

Strangely enough I haven't heard of this "Japanese noise band with a past in bondage video and urine throwing". You never cease to amaze me Mike.
